Allergen specific immunotherapy in elderly people
Andrzej Bożek

Immunotherapy in elderly patients is controversial, and there is still not
enough evidence supporting this treatment’s safety and efficacy in that
population. Studies related to prevalence, diagnosis and treatment of
these diseases in patients over 60 years of age underline their increasing
incidence of allergy and indicate the need for greater vigilance with
respect to allergy treatment in this group. Recent studies demonstrated
efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in elderly. We believe that in the
elderly patients allergen immunotherapy may be as effective and safety
as in younger patients.
